Joel Reed brings over 25 years of experience directing the marketing and revenue operations for the world’s most recognized hardware and software technology companies. Throughout his career, Joel has had a successful track record of building and growing organizations with a focus on delivering substantial revenue performance for industry giants such as IBM, Sterling Commerce, AT&T, NetRegulus, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Nortel and GTE.

Joel came to Mereo from IBM where he was the executive director of Product Line Management for the $1 billion B2B & Commerce business unit of IBM’s Industry Solutions software division. In this role he was responsible for product management, product strategy and revenue enablement for the Selling, Order Management and Supply Chain & Optimization solutions as well as B2B integration solutions consisting of B2B Integration Software, B2B CloudServices and Managed File Transfer. In this role he also had direct responsibility for a sales organization focused on large enterprise clients responsible for achieving approximately $50 million in bookings annually. His teams drove double digit revenue growth while improving profitability metrics.

During his tenure at Sterling Commerce, as the senior vice president of Marketing & Product Management, Joel held leadership roles guiding Product, Industry and Corporate Marketing and External Communications, Product Management and Strategic Alliances including the AT&T Channel relationship. Joel’s previous software experiences include serving as vice president of Business Development and Marketing for NetRegulus and vice president of Product Marketing for JD Edwards and PeopleSoft during the largest software merger of its kind.

Prior to driving the growth and profitability of software companies, Joel held numerous leadership roles within the high-tech hardware and telecommunications manufacturing industry. As a director at Northern Telecom, he led teams responsible for process and product design, customer service, manufacturing and planning. During his tenure Joel led the transformation of over 3 million square feet of manufacturing space reducing lead-times by over 60%. Prior to Nortel, Joel led new product prototyping for GTE Products Corporation in the ceramic automotive parts business unit.

Joel earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He was elected to the Penn State Earth and Mineral Sciences College AlumniBoard of Directors in 2010 and is currently serving as the president-elect of the college’s Development Council.Joel also was elected to serve on the Hilton Valdero Owners Association Board of Directors from2014to 2021and in 2016 was elected to serve as president of that organization.
